Presented new work, “What if AI Systems Weren’t Chatbots?”, at the PLAMADISO talk series at the Weizenbaum Institute in Berlin, (ongoing work with Sourojit Ghosh, Pranav Venkit, and Sanjana Gautam). I argued that the rush to turn every system into a chatbot can reduce individual and collective agency, and that we should build AI systems that work for people instead of forcing people to work through chat interfaces.
